"Response"In this part of the world most people at Christmas, whether or not they hold onto the Christmas story or go to church, will share a meal

Let that table – act as a reminder of the reality of Christmas…

We exchange presents before sitting down – but not everyone can afford such things – the present reminds us to think about the poor in this world...

Each place setting – with its fork and knife and spoon – reminds us that while we over eat or push food aside, there are those in this world who go hungry...

The empty seat... serves as a reminder of those who are not sitting with us – of those who are ill in hospital... or separated by miles... or by split families... or who have died...

The candle on the table – a light to remember those who live in darkness – those who suffer...

And a tray set apart from the table - to remind us of those who have no one with whom to share a special day. Think as you sit around your table, of those who are alone...
Christmas Cracker
There are crackers too – we associate the noise of crackers with celebration E2 there are those here."who live in fear of such bangs. We need, at Christmas, to remember those who live amidst war – civilians and soldiers and peace-keepers...

As you sit down to your Christmas meal – think of others... let the things around you remind you of how fortunate you are and let them make spare a thought for those who are less fortunate...

And if you can - say a prayer for them - and say it in the name of the baby. "
