Fra Angelico"I love Christmas, and Advent too - the sense of expectation, the invitation to be childlike, and the ultimate wonder of God crying and burbling as a new-born babe. One thing I would want people to take from this season into the whole of the rest of the year is the angels' repeated message of 'do not be afraid'. If we can leave behind a little of our anxiety about our own security and well-being then we will have more room within us to allow love and empathy to flourish. If we are able to stop being afraid of those who are different from us then we will be able to hear their voices more clearly and respond with gentler words ourselves. And if we do not allow ourselves to be paralysed with panic over the fate of our planet we can get on with making the everyday choices that offer the best hope of a sustainable future.
Have a blessed Advent and a very merry Christmas!"
