| "There are many ways to have an ethical, green, or sustainable Christmas. If there was one thing you would want people to do every day as well, what would it be?" |
Professor Alastair Macdonald is Senior Researcher in the School of Design, the Glasgow School of Art. His research primarily focuses on Inclusive Design, especially focused on the ageing population. His projects involve the development of inclusive design processes, and user-centred research methods and tools in healthcare, visualizing dynamic data to facilitate cross-disciplinary collaboration, and industry-based universal design and technology research in Japan. | "My goodness, how we’ve chosen to interpret and front-stage the story of those three wise men! Perhaps this is when we should not think about what (a something) to give to others but how to give more of ourselves to others. The original Christmas story was about love. We shouldn’t forget the wonder and joy we felt as children. As adults we should have developed a degree of equanimity in dealing with Christmas present. But ‘the one thing you would want people to do every day?’ – show a bit more compassion." Back to the NJfC Advent Calendar |
